ABOUT US

GREEN PAGES.

Green Pages is a Ugandan non-profit conservation organization, revamped in 2022, dedicated to protecting biodiversity while enhancing community livelihoods through sustainable environmental practices. We recognize that communities are both the custodians and beneficiaries of the natural environment, and therefore, their empowerment is central to our work. Our work bridges the gap between environmental conservation and poverty alleviation. By promoting eco-friendly practices, providing conservation training, and supporting community-driven projects, Green Pages ensures that environmental protection translates into tangible socio-economic benefits.

OUR HISTORY

History Of Our Organization

The story of Green Pages began over a decade ago with our founder, Alice Lamwaka, a passionate environmentalist from Uganda whose deep love for trees sparked a lifelong journey of conservation and community empowerment. Alice started small—with a tree nursery bed project, which she initially managed as a business. Her dedication to nurturing seedlings and restoring greenery in her community quickly became more than just a livelihood—it became a mission. As she interacted with farmers and local families, she realized the urgent need to raise awareness about deforestation, climate change, and sustainable resource use. In time, her children joined her efforts, transforming the initiative into a family-led venture dedicated to promoting conservation and sustainability. Recognizing the growing impact and potential of their work, the family formalized the initiative into a community organization — later revamped in 2022 as Green Pages, a non-profit committed to protecting biodiversity and improving livelihoods through sustainable environmental practices. Today, Green Pages continues to build on Alice’s legacy — turning her vision of a greener Uganda into a dynamic, community-driven conservation movement that empowers people to live in harmony with nature.
